RIIHAN309E – CONDUCT TELESCOPIC MATERIALS HANDLER OPERATIONS

AIMS AND OUTCOMES

This course is designed to impart a participant’s skills and knowledge required to conduct telescopic materials handler operations in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. They include planning and preparing for operations, selecting the correct attachment/s, operating the telescopic materials handler and carrying out post-operational procedures.

The course includes both theory and practical components, with participants undertaking practical exercises to ensure familiarity with procedures, equipment and safety systems. Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the unit.

  • Operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Read and write English to a basic level

COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction
  • Relevant Australian Standards, Legislation and Regulations
  • Workplace Health & Safety including codes of practise
  • Work requirements, safety information and procedures and Identification of site hazards
  • Conduct machine pre-operational checks
  • Demonstrate and interpret signals
  • Interpret load charts and machine limitations
  • Operation of telescopic handler
  • Selection, removal and correct fitting of attachments
  • Operator maintenance responsibilities
  • Shutdown of machine
  • Post operational checks
  • Conduct maintenance of machine, equipment and/or attachments
  • Theoretical and Practical Assessments

CERTIFICATION

A Statement of Attainment and Notice of Assessment will be issued upon successful completion in accordance with RTO partnership agreement
