MSAPMPER300C – ISSUE WORK PERMITS

AIMS AND OUTCOMES
This competency unit addresses the need for personnel who issue work permits to understand the permit system, know the limitations of each permit and make decisions regarding the need for and correct use of each permit. This competency unit includes the issue of any and all permits. It applies to the issuing of permits covering a single plant or plant area such as might be an operators scope of responsibility.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  • Understand Prevailing Legislation and Applicable Standards
  • Understand HAZCHEM markings
  • Plan and prepare for permit issue
  • Conduct Risk and Hazard Assessment
  • Validate the Permit
  • Monitor Permit Adherence
  • Close out Permit

COURSE CONTENT

  • Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • Obtain appropriate permits and instructions for performing work in the workplace
  • Interpreting and applying safe work method statements
  • Familiarising with Rescue Plans
  • Working in conjunction with other Live Permits
  • Identify the correct Permit/s Required for task/s
  • Tagging, lock out and isolation responsibilities
  • Identify the personal protective equipment applicable to all tasks and for use in specific environment identified
  • Identifying areas that constitute confined spaces
  • Complying with site and equipment safety requirements
  • Complying with site isolation and site control responsibilities and authorities
  • Theoretical and Practical Assessments

CERTIFICATION

A Statement of Attainment and Notice of Assessment will be issued upon successful completion in accordance with RTO partnership agreement
